Our Georgiana customers are spread from Main Street to the I-65 corridor and out around the Hank Williams Boyhood Home and Museum, and we serve the surrounding Butler County communities on the same schedule.
Door problems in Georgiana tend to sort into two groups: older homes where the frames and jambs have taken decades of weather, and newer builds where the hardware was the cheapest part of the package and has already given up.

These are the screen door repair faults we are called out to most often in Georgiana. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- The mesh has a shiny worn stripe near the handleAbrasion from contact with the track or jamb, meaning the frame is no longer running true.
- The mesh is torn or has holesStraightforward rescreen, and worth doing before the tear spreads.
- The screen track itself is damagedThe channel the screen rides in has been bent or worn.
- The frame flexes visibly when you pull the handleFailed corner keys, which is why the whole frame is racking rather than sliding.
- The spline has lifted out of the channel at a cornerShrunken or hardened spline, usually after several summers of UV exposure.
- Sun damage has made the mesh brittleUV degradation, common on south and west facing doors.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Why screen door repair fails in the Wiregrass
The Wiregrass gets punishing summer heat and enough tropical rain that hurricane remnants are a normal part of the year, not an exception. Sally and Michael both did door and window damage this far inland.
Ultraviolet light is what kills screen mesh. Standard fiberglass on a south or west exposure goes brittle and crumbles at the edges, which is why solar mesh is worth the difference on sunny elevations.
Blowing sand abrades screen mesh and packs into the screen track, and a screen track full of sand will not let a panel roll no matter how good the rollers are.
We see the pattern often enough across Butler County that we usually know what we are looking at before we arrive.
Local factors we account for in Georgiana: sun and heat load and blowing sand — typical of the Wiregrass.

- Check whether it is the screen or the trackA screen that keeps coming out is usually a roller and track problem, and rescreening it would not solve anything.
- Check the frame for squareA racked frame will never slide properly. Corner keys get reset before anything else is considered. Sandy-soil jobs get their running surfaces cleaned out thoroughly, because new rollers fitted into a gritty track will not last a year.
- Match the mesh to the exposureOn a sun-facing opening, standard fibreglass will be brittle within a couple of seasons, so we specify accordingly.
- Rescreen with correct tensionToo tight and the frame bows, too loose and it billows. Even tension is what keeps a screen flat and quiet.
- Fit and adjust the rollersBoth rollers set so the frame runs level and the latch meets its keeper without lifting.
- Test the full travelEnd to end, several times, with the latch engaging cleanly at the close.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of screen door repair in Georgiana
Pricing on screen door repair depends on what has actually failed, which is why we talk it through before quoting. These are the things that move the number:
- the size of the panel
- custom-built replacement panels where the original is not repairable
- the mesh type chosen, from standard fiberglass to pet-resistant and solar
- roller and track work in addition to the screen itself
- rescreening versus repairing or replacing the frame
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Georgiana.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Screen door repair in Georgiana: questions we get asked
Do you make custom-size screens?
Yes. Older openings in Georgiana are rarely a stock size, and building a panel to the actual measured opening is the only way to get one that fits and stays in.
The screen slides hard even though it is not falling out. What is wrong?
Either the rollers have seized or the track is packed with debris. In Georgiana the track collects a surprising amount of grit, and it acts like grinding paste on the rollers.
My sliding screen keeps falling out. Why does it keep happening?
The rollers have worn down so the panel is riding too low and the top rail no longer sits in the head channel. Lifting it back in without replacing the rollers means it will come out again, usually within days.
What mesh should I use if I have dogs?
Pet-resistant mesh, which is a heavier vinyl-coated polyester, and often a pet grille across the lower section. Standard fiberglass will not survive a dog that pushes against it.
Will a solar screen make my room cooler?
It helps noticeably on a sunny exposure. Solar mesh blocks a good portion of the heat before it reaches the glass, which matters on west-facing doors during Georgiana summers.
Is it worth rescreening or should I just buy a new screen door?
Rescreening is far cheaper and the frame is usually fine. New panels only make sense when the frame is bent beyond straightening or the corners are gone.
