Jackson is part of our regular Clarke County territory, and between Downtown Jackson, the College Avenue corridor and the the Tombigbee River area we are here most weeks.
Jackson has enough older housing stock that repair almost always beats replacement here, and enough new construction that we spend a lot of time on hardware that failed early.
One call gets you an answer. We will tell you what is wrong and what it takes to fix.

Salt air is the single biggest factor on the coast. It attacks the steel inside roller bearings, hinge pins, latch mechanisms and closer springs, and it does it year round whether or not a storm ever comes.
Pressure differences from wind and from HVAC cycling swing interior doors and slam them, which loosens hinge screws and is hard on both the door and the frame.
Wet weather raises indoor humidity noticeably, and the interior doors that stick after several rainy days are responding to that rather than to anything structural.
We factor that in on every interior door repair job around the Tombigbee River and the rest of Jackson.
Local factors we account for in Jackson: storm wind and heavy rainfall — typical of the Alabama Gulf Coast.

- Ask which doors and whenOne door is a door problem. Five doors on one floor is a building problem, and the fix is different.
- Tell sag from swelling from frame movementThey present identically and need completely different work, so this is worth getting right before anything is cut.
- Adjust before cuttingHinge shims, longer screws and strike adjustment fix most sticking doors. Planing a door is permanent and often unnecessary.
- Repair the hardware properlyStripped hinge holes get rebuilt rather than packed with matchsticks. We check the drainage path on every coastal opening, because wind-driven rain gets in where ordinary rain never would.
- Set the latch to close quietlyA door should latch with a light push and stay latched without rattling.
- Work through the listIf you have five annoying doors, we would rather fix all five in one visit than come back five times.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of interior door repair in Jackson
There is no single price for interior door repair in Jackson, because two doors with identical symptoms can need very different work. Here is what makes the difference:
- adjustment and hardware work versus door slab replacement
- hollow core versus solid core doors
- how many doors are being worked on in one visit
- specialty hardware such as pocket, bifold and barn door systems
- trimming doors to clear new flooring
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Jackson.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Interior door repair in Jackson: questions we get asked
My bathroom door locked with a child inside. Can that be prevented?
Yes. Privacy sets have an emergency release on the outside, and if it did not work the latch has failed and needs replacing. It is a cheap part and worth doing on every privacy door in the house.
Do you replace interior doors as well as repair them?
Yes. A new slab hung in the existing frame is a common job and much simpler than replacing the whole frame and casing.
Can a pocket door be fixed without tearing open the wall?
Very often, yes. Most pocket door repairs come down to the roller hangers, and on many systems the door can be removed and the hangers replaced through the opening without opening the wall.
My bedroom door sticks at the top. Do I need to plane it?
Probably not, and we would try everything else first. Sticking at the top corner is usually hinge sag, and correcting the hinges brings the door back without removing any material. Planing is permanent and it is the last resort, not the first.
We put in new flooring and now the doors will not close. What now?
The doors need trimming to clear the new floor height. It is straightforward, but the amount matters: too little and it still drags, too much and you get a gap under every door in the house.
Are bifold closet doors worth repairing?
Usually yes. The pivots and top guides are inexpensive parts and they are what fails. The doors themselves are rarely the problem.
