Our Ozark customers are spread from Downtown Ozark to the courthouse square and out around the Dale County Courthouse, and we serve the surrounding Dale County communities on the same schedule.
A lot of what we see in Dale County comes down to age. Houses built decades ago have solid frames with tired hardware; houses built recently have sound hardware in frames that are still settling.

These are the interior door repair faults we are called out to most often in Ozark. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- A pocket door off its rollersFailed roller hangers inside the wall pocket.
- The door sticks at the top cornerHinge sag, or the frame has moved slightly.
- The privacy lock will not release from outsideA worn or bent emergency release, which matters most on bathroom doors.
- Doors that will not close in humid monthsSeasonal swelling on a door that already had marginal clearance.
- The door latches but springs back openA latch that is catching on the lip of the strike rather than entering it fully.
- The barn door rattles against the wall as it movesMissing or worn floor guide, letting the panel swing at the bottom.

Sandy soil here drains fast but also shifts, and blowing sand is a constant presence in sliding door tracks and screen channels.
Grit tracked through a house works into hinge knuckles and into the bottom tracks of bifold and sliding closet doors, which is why closet doors in sandy areas jump their guides.
Sun through a large window will warm and dry one face of an interior door unevenly, and over years that can bow a hollow core slab enough that it stops latching.
We see the pattern often enough across Dale County that we usually know what we are looking at before we arrive.
Local factors we account for in Ozark: blowing sand and sun and heat load — typical of the Wiregrass.

- Look at the house, not one doorIf several doors have started sticking in the same season, the cause is usually humidity or movement rather than the doors.
- Tell sag from swelling from frame movementThey present identically and need completely different work, so this is worth getting right before anything is cut.
- Adjust before cuttingPlaning a door is permanent. We correct hinges and strikes first, because most sticking doors do not need any material removed. In the Wiregrass we check tracks and channels for fine sand, which grinds moving parts flat faster than anything else in the state.
- Repair the hardware properlyLatches, privacy sets, bifold pivots, pocket door hangers and barn door guides all get the correct parts rather than a workaround.
- Set the latch to close quietlyThe strike is adjusted so the door closes with a light push and stays shut without rattling in the airflow.
- Work through the whole listInterior doors come in groups. It is far cheaper to do them in one visit than to call us back for each one.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of interior door repair in Ozark
We would rather tell you what drives the price than quote a number that turns out to be wrong once we see the door. On a interior door repair job in Ozark, the main variables are these:
- adjustment and hardware work versus door slab replacement
- trimming doors to clear new flooring
- whether the frame also needs correcting
- how many doors are being worked on in one visit
- hollow core versus solid core doors
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Ozark.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Interior door repair in Ozark: questions we get asked
We put in new flooring and now the doors will not close. What now?
The doors need trimming to clear the new floor height. It is straightforward, but the amount matters: too little and it still drags, too much and you get a gap under every door in the house.
Can a hole in a hollow core door be repaired?
It can be patched, but the honest answer for most Ozark homes is that a replacement slab hung in the existing frame with the existing hardware often looks better and costs less than a repair that will always be visible.
My bedroom door sticks at the top. Do I need to plane it?
Probably not, and we would try everything else first. Sticking at the top corner is usually hinge sag, and correcting the hinges brings the door back without removing any material. Planing is permanent and it is the last resort, not the first.
Do you replace interior doors as well as repair them?
Yes. A new slab hung in the existing frame is a common job and much simpler than replacing the whole frame and casing.
Can you hang a barn door properly?
Yes, and the important part is the backing. Barn door track has to be fixed into solid framing, not into drywall with anchors, or the whole thing eventually pulls off the wall.
Why do my hinges squeak so much?
Dry pins. It takes a minute per door to fix properly, and the right lubricant matters because oil-based products collect dust and end up making the noise come back worse.
