Tuskegee sits in Macon County, and our work here runs from Downtown Tuskegee out past Tuskegee University, with Notasulga and Moundville close enough that we are usually in the area anyway.
A lot of what we see in Macon County comes down to age. Houses built decades ago have solid frames with tired hardware; houses built recently have sound hardware in frames that are still settling.

The wet winter and dry late-summer cycle here is severe enough that a door adjusted perfectly in February can bind badly by September.
Patio door sills catch a lot of water and rely entirely on their weep holes to get rid of it, and heavy rain plus blocked weeps is the standard recipe for water on the floor and rusted-out roller assemblies.
Constant humidity swells the wood components in patio door frames and thresholds while corroding the steel in the hardware, so the door gets tighter and the parts that move it get weaker at the same time.
Knowing that is the difference between a repair that holds through a Tuskegee summer and one that does not.
Local factors we account for in Tuskegee: heavy rainfall and sustained humidity — typical of the Black Belt.

- Identify the systemSlider, hinged French, sliding French or multi-panel. Each has different hardware and different failure points.
- Check the opening for squarePatio doors are wide, and a small amount of frame movement shows up as a large amount of binding.
- Take the panel out where it is neededRollers, interlocks and the track cannot be properly assessed with the panel in place.
- Rebuild the moving partsRollers, guides, keepers and weatherstrip get replaced as a set, because replacing one worn item next to five others is false economy. We note the reveal measurements on clay-soil jobs so that if it shifts again there is a baseline to compare against.
- Reset alignment and sealThe panel goes back plumb, latches under its own weight and seals along the full perimeter.
- Check the drainageWeep holes cleared and tested so the sill sheds water instead of holding it.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of patio door repair in Tuskegee
Every patio door repair call in Macon County is a little different, and the cost follows what the door actually needs:
- the weight of the panels, which drives hardware selection
- the type of patio door and how many panels it has
- whether rollers alone or rollers plus track work are needed
- the condition of the weatherstrip and threshold
- how far the frame has moved out of square
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Tuskegee.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Patio door repair in Tuskegee: questions we get asked
Can you fix a foggy patio door glass panel?
The seal on the insulated unit has failed and the glass itself needs replacing, but the frame and the rest of the door do not. We replace the glass unit in place.
How do I make my patio door more secure?
A foot bolt or auxiliary lock at the bottom of the panel and anti-lift hardware in the head channel. The factory latch on most patio doors is not much, and in Tuskegee it is one of the most common weak points on a house.
Do you work on French patio doors as well as sliders?
Yes. Hinged French pairs have a different set of problems, mostly hinge sag, astragal binding and multipoint lock failures, but they are just as repairable.
My patio door leaks water inside when it rains hard. Why?
Usually blocked weep holes in the sill. The track is designed to collect water and drain it outside, and once those drains clog the water rises to the interior lip and comes in. It is a cheap fix that prevents expensive floor damage.
Do multi-panel stacking doors need different service?
They need more attention to alignment. With three or four panels, every panel has to be set right or they bind against each other, and the weight per roller is higher than a standard slider.
The threshold on my patio door feels loose. Should I worry?
Yes, look at it soon. A loose threshold usually means water has been working on the sill underneath, and that is how a hardware repair turns into a frame repair.
