We service every part of Clanton, including Downtown Clanton and the courthouse square, and the nearby Chilton County towns like Jemison and Thorsby.
Clanton has enough older housing stock that repair almost always beats replacement here, and enough new construction that we spend a lot of time on hardware that failed early.

These are the door handle repair faults we are called out to most often in Clanton. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- It catches at one point in the turnA burr or bent tailpiece dragging inside the latch case.
- You have to jiggle the handle for the door to openThe latch is only partly retracting, or the strike is catching it.
- The lever has dropped a few degrees and stayed thereA fatigued return spring in the rose or a worn spindle no longer holding the lever level.
- Grinding or gritty feel when you turn itDebris or corrosion inside the mechanism.
- Rattling when the door is closedLatch and strike clearance has opened up, often after the handle set was replaced with a different backset.
- The finish is pitting or flakingCorrosion, usually from humidity or salt exposure on an exterior door.

Summers here are long and genuinely hot, and afternoon thunderstorms arrive most days in July. Anything that relies on a rubber seal ages fast under that combination of UV and heat.
Direct sun degrades the finish on exterior handle sets and cooks the grease out of the mechanism, and on a south or west facing entry the handle usually looks tired years before the door does.
Wind catching a door pulls it out of somebody's hand and slams it, and repeated slamming is what loosens handle mounting screws and eventually oversizes the bore in the door.
We see the pattern often enough across Chilton County that we usually know what we are looking at before we arrive.
Local factors we account for in Clanton: sun and heat load and storm wind — typical of the River Region.

- Work out what is actually looseRose, chassis, spindle or fixings. They feel similar from the outside and need different fixes.
- Check the door and strike alignmentA latch dragging on the strike puts load through the handle mechanism and is a common reason handles fail early. Openings here get assessed for drainage as well as alignment, since summer storms find any weakness at the sill.
- Reuse what is soundIf the escutcheons and cylinder are good, we change the failed part and keep the rest, which matters on matched sets.
- Fit correctly to the doorRight backset, right bore, hardware sitting square and pulled up tight to both faces.
- Set the latch engagementThe latch should enter the strike cleanly with the door pushed to. No lifting, no shoulder, no jiggle.
- Check the rest of the setHandles usually fail in groups, so we test the others while we are there rather than leaving you to call again.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of door handle repair in Clanton
What a door handle repair job costs comes down to a handful of things, and we would rather be straight about them up front:
- whether the bore or backset needs correction
- keyed versus non-keyed function
- commercial grade requirements on high-use doors
- how many doors are being done at once
- the grade and finish of the hardware chosen
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Clanton.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Door handle repair in Clanton: questions we get asked
Why does my exterior handle keep corroding?
Exposure. In Chilton County an exterior handle needs a finish rated for it, and cheap plated hardware on a door that gets weather will pit within a couple of years no matter how well it is installed.
How long does a handle replacement take?
Most take under an hour per door in Clanton. If the bore is worn or the backset does not match, it takes longer because the door itself needs work before the new hardware will sit right.
Do you do commercial handle and lever work?
Yes, including Grade 1 lever sets, classroom and storeroom functions and hardware on doors with closers, where the handle has to work against constant spring pressure.
Why does my door rattle after a new handle was fitted?
The new latch is probably sitting at a slightly different depth than the old one, so the strike no longer holds the door tight. Adjusting the strike fixes it in a few minutes.
My lever handle droops. Can that be repaired?
Yes, usually. The return spring inside the handle body has failed. On decent hardware we can replace the spring cassette; on thin builder-grade sets it is often cheaper to fit a better handle than to rebuild a weak one.
Do I need to replace the lock to replace the handle?
Not necessarily. On a keyed entry set they are integrated, but on many doors the handle and the deadbolt are separate and you can change one without touching the other.
