Our Fort Rucker customers are spread from the post cantonment area to the Novosel Street corridor and out around the U.S. Army Aviation Museum, and we serve the surrounding Dale County communities on the same schedule.
Between the established parts of Fort Rucker and the newer subdivisions, we see two different kinds of failure: worn-out frames on one side of town and worn-out hardware on the other.

- The frame is bent or racked out of squareUsually from being forced back into a track it was not sitting right in.
- The storm door closer has torn out of the frameWind caught the door; the mounting needs repair and a wind chain fitted.

Sandy soil here drains fast but also shifts, and blowing sand is a constant presence in sliding door tracks and screen channels.
Wind gets behind a screen panel and pushes it out of the track, and on hinged screen and storm doors a gust catching the door is what tears closers out of the frame.
Blowing sand abrades screen mesh and packs into the screen track, and a screen track full of sand will not let a panel roll no matter how good the rollers are.
It is why the same repair done properly in Fort Rucker lasts, and the same repair done cheaply does not.
Local factors we account for in Fort Rucker: storm wind and blowing sand — typical of the Wiregrass.

- Check whether it is the screen or the trackA screen that keeps coming out is usually a roller and track problem, and rescreening it would not solve anything.
- Check the frame for squareA racked frame will never slide properly. Corner keys get reset before anything else is considered.
- Match the mesh to the exposureOn a sun-facing opening, standard fibreglass will be brittle within a couple of seasons, so we specify accordingly.
- Rescreen with correct tensionEven tension and properly seated spline so the mesh does not sag or pull out of the channel. In the Wiregrass we check tracks and channels for fine sand, which grinds moving parts flat faster than anything else in the state.
- Fit and adjust the rollersSet so the panel rides smoothly and stays captured in the head channel.
- Test the full travelEnd to end, several times, with the latch engaging cleanly at the close.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of screen door repair in Fort Rucker
We would rather tell you what drives the price than quote a number that turns out to be wrong once we see the door. On a screen door repair job in Fort Rucker, the main variables are these:
- the mesh type chosen, from standard fiberglass to pet-resistant and solar
- roller and track work in addition to the screen itself
- the size of the panel
- rescreening versus repairing or replacing the frame
- custom-built replacement panels where the original is not repairable
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Fort Rucker.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Screen door repair in Fort Rucker: questions we get asked
Will a solar screen make my room cooler?
It helps noticeably on a sunny exposure. Solar mesh blocks a good portion of the heat before it reaches the glass, which matters on west-facing doors during Fort Rucker summers.
Do you make custom-size screens?
Yes. Older openings in Fort Rucker are rarely a stock size, and building a panel to the actual measured opening is the only way to get one that fits and stays in.
My sliding screen keeps falling out. Why does it keep happening?
The rollers have worn down so the panel is riding too low and the top rail no longer sits in the head channel. Lifting it back in without replacing the rollers means it will come out again, usually within days.
What mesh should I use if I have dogs?
Pet-resistant mesh, which is a heavier vinyl-coated polyester, and often a pet grille across the lower section. Standard fiberglass will not survive a dog that pushes against it.
How long does a rescreen take?
Usually under an hour per panel in Fort Rucker. If the frame needs straightening or corner keys replaced, allow a bit longer.
Can a bent screen frame be straightened?
Sometimes. Light aluminum frames can often be brought back to square, but a badly racked frame is usually better replaced, and a custom panel is not expensive.
