We service every part of Gordo, including Main Street and the US-82 corridor, and the nearby Pickens County towns like Aliceville and Carrollton.
Between the established parts of Gordo and the newer subdivisions, we see two different kinds of failure: worn-out frames on one side of town and worn-out hardware on the other.

These are the sliding door repair faults we are called out to most often in Gordo. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- It jumps off the trackThe panel has dropped low enough that it is no longer captured by the head channel, or the roller adjustment screws have backed out.
- The door will not latch anymoreThe panel has settled out of square, so the hook or mortise latch no longer lines up with the keeper.
- A loud grinding or scraping noiseMetal-on-metal contact where the roller housing has broken through and is riding on the bare track.
- The lock will not engage without lifting the doorClassic sign the panel has dropped and needs re-shimming, not a new lock.
- The handle pulls but nothing releasesBroken latch linkage inside the stile, or a snapped internal actuator rod.
- It slides fine one way and binds the otherOne roller of the tandem pair has collapsed, so the panel is running out of level.

Humidity stays high from late spring through September, which is exactly when wood doors that fit fine in winter start dragging on the jamb.
Long humid stretches keep condensation on the cold aluminum frame of a slider almost continuously, and that moisture rusts roller axles and adjustment screws from the inside, which is why the screws often shear when someone finally tries to adjust the door.
Storm wind pushes hard on the large flat surface of a patio slider and drives the panel against the interlock, which loosens roller adjustment over time and works the panel out of alignment with its latch keeper.
We factor that in on every sliding door repair job around the Sipsey River and the rest of Gordo.
Local factors we account for in Gordo: sustained humidity and storm wind — typical of west Alabama.

- Watch it move before touching anythingWe run the door end to end and listen. Where the noise starts and where the effort peaks tells us which roller has gone.
- Lift the panel out and inspect itThe wheels come off the housings and get checked for flat spots, seized bearings and housings that have been running on bare metal. Across west Alabama we check the frame anchorage carefully, because seasonal soil movement works fixings loose over time.
- Match the hardwareSliding door rollers are not universal. We identify the manufacturer and panel weight and fit the right tandem assembly rather than the closest thing on the truck.
- Restore the running surfaceWorn track gets repaired or capped so the new rollers are not immediately damaged by the old groove.
- Level the panel, then set the heightBoth adjusters are wound together so the panel sits level and the interlock engages along its whole length, not just at the top.
- Hand it back working the way you use itWe open and close it the way you would, one-handed, and check the lock, the screen and the drainage before we leave.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of sliding door repair in Gordo
Pricing on sliding door repair depends on what has actually failed, which is why we talk it through before quoting. These are the things that move the number:
- whether the fix is rollers only or rollers plus track repair
- the size and weight of the panel, since heavy insulated glass units need heavier assemblies
- how many panels the system has, since three and four panel doors take longer to set
- how much damage the worn track has taken before the call
- whether the frame has moved and needs shimming or refastening
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Gordo.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Sliding door repair in Gordo: questions we get asked
Do you work on the big multi-panel and stacking patio doors?
Yes. Those systems put a lot of weight on each roller and they are less forgiving of a frame that is even slightly out of square, so alignment work matters more on them than on a standard two-panel door.
Can a sliding door that has stopped rolling be fixed, or does it need replacing?
Almost always fixed. The frame and glass are usually fine and it is the two small roller assemblies underneath that have failed. Replacing a whole patio door in Gordo is a several thousand dollar job; rebuilding the rollers and track is a fraction of that and gets you a door that rolls better than it has in years.
Will new rollers fix a door that scrapes loudly?
Only if the track is still in good condition. Once a roller has broken through and the housing has been riding on bare aluminum, the track has a groove worn in it, and new rollers dropped onto that groove will fail quickly. That is when we cap the track.
Why does my sliding door work fine in winter and stick in summer?
That is a moisture and expansion problem, and it is common across Pickens County. Humid months swell wood and vinyl components and expand the frame slightly, which is enough to close up clearance that was already marginal because of worn rollers.
Do you replace the glass in sliding doors too?
Yes. Fogged units where the insulated seal has failed, cracked panes and full tempered glass replacement are all part of what we do, and we can usually keep the existing frame.
What does it mean when there is water pooling in the track?
The weep holes that drain the sill are blocked. It is one of the most common causes of water on the floor inside, and it is also one of the easiest things to fix, but if it sits long enough it rusts the roller assemblies out.
