We service every part of Gulf Shores, including West Beach and Fort Morgan Road, and the nearby Baldwin County towns like Daphne and Fairhope.
Between the established parts of Gulf Shores and the newer subdivisions, we see two different kinds of failure: worn-out frames on one side of town and worn-out hardware on the other.

These are the french door repair faults we are called out to most often in Gulf Shores. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- The multipoint locks at the top but not the bottomThe active leaf has dropped, so the lower keeper is now below the shootbolt.
- The handle set turns but nothing engagesBroken multipoint gearbox or a failed drive.
- The doors bind in summer and are loose in winterSeasonal wood movement compounding an existing alignment problem.
- Condensation in one of the litesFailed insulated glass in a single lite, replaceable on its own.
- A visible gap at the top or bottom of the meeting stileThe pair is out of alignment and no longer parallel.
- Water coming in at the thresholdFailed sill seal or a threshold that has deteriorated.

Salt air is the single biggest factor on the coast. It attacks the steel inside roller bearings, hinge pins, latch mechanisms and closer springs, and it does it year round whether or not a storm ever comes.
Grit at the threshold of a French door pair works into the flush bolt sockets at the sill, and a flush bolt that will not seat leaves the inactive leaf floating, which throws the whole pair out.
The bottom of the meeting stile is the hardest place on a house to keep watertight, and heavy rain against a French door pair will find any weakness in the sill seal or the threshold there.
Knowing that is the difference between a repair that holds through a Gulf Shores summer and one that does not.
Local factors we account for in Gulf Shores: blowing sand and heavy rainfall — typical of the Alabama Gulf Coast.

- Measure the reveal all the way roundThe gap pattern between the leaves and the frame tells us what has moved before we touch any hardware.
- Check both leaves independentlyOne door usually causes the problem, and treating both the same way makes it worse.
- Get both leaves back in planeIf the door faces are stepped, no amount of lock adjustment will make the pair meet correctly.
- Rebuild the seal at the meeting stileAstragal and weatherstrip get replaced together, because that centre joint is where the draft and the water come through.
- Set the locking hardwareKeepers adjusted so the shootbolts engage top and bottom with the handle lifting smoothly and no forcing.
- Cycle both leaves fullyOpen, close and lock each leaf several times, including the flush bolts, before we call it finished. On the coast we also check every fastener on the opening, because salt finds plated screws long before it touches the door itself.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of french door repair in Gulf Shores
There is no single price for french door repair in Gulf Shores, because two doors with identical symptoms can need very different work. Here is what makes the difference:
- whether the frame itself has moved and needs correcting
- astragal, weatherstrip and threshold replacement
- multipoint lock repair versus full gearbox replacement
- glass replacement in individual lites
- whether one leaf or both need re-hanging
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Gulf Shores.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895French door repair in Gulf Shores: questions we get asked
Why will my multipoint lock not throw anymore?
The door has moved, so the lock points no longer line up with their keepers in the frame. Forcing the handle in that state is how the gearbox breaks, so it is worth correcting the alignment before something expensive fails.
Can one lite of glass be replaced or does the whole door need doing?
Individual lites can normally be replaced on their own. That is one of the advantages of a true divided or simulated divided light door.
My French doors bind in summer but are fine in winter. Is that normal?
Some seasonal movement is normal in Gulf Shores, but if it is bad enough to stop the door closing, there is usually an underlying alignment problem that the seasonal movement is pushing over the edge.
My French doors rub in the middle. Is that because the wood swelled?
Usually not. Nine times out of ten it is hinge sag on one leaf, and the giveaway is that the rub is worse at one end of the joint than the other. Real swelling affects the whole edge evenly and comes and goes with the season.
How long does French door repair take?
Most alignment and weatherstrip jobs in Gulf Shores take two to four hours. Multipoint gearbox replacement or glass work can add time, especially if parts need ordering for a specific manufacturer.
Are French doors less secure than a single door?
They can be, because there are two leaves and a joint in the middle. Reinforced strikes, solid flush bolts and long fasteners into the framing make a big difference and are inexpensive.
