We service every part of Lookout Mountain, including the Lookout Mountain Parkway corridor and Alabama Avenue, and the nearby Etowah County towns like Altoona and Gadsden.
Between the established parts of Lookout Mountain and the newer subdivisions, we see two different kinds of failure: worn-out frames on one side of town and worn-out hardware on the other.
Most doors we see are repairable.Call and find out before you price a replacement.

These are the sliding door repair faults we are called out to most often in Lookout Mountain. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- It slides fine one way and binds the otherOne roller of the tandem pair has collapsed, so the panel is running out of level.
- Daylight at the top or bottom cornerThe panel is out of plumb, usually from uneven roller adjustment or a frame that has moved.
- The door stops short of the jamb by half an inchDebris packed at the end of the track, or an adjuster screw wound fully out.
- Cold air pouring in around the edgesCollapsed weatherstrip and worn pile seals, and often a gap the panel misalignment created.
- The screen door falls out constantlyWorn screen rollers and a bent top or bottom rail on the screen frame.
- Water on the floor after heavy rainBlocked weep holes in the sill, so the track fills and backs up over the interior lip.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What we see on sliding door repair around Etowah County
Storms coming off the ridges dump a lot of water in a short time, and any door with a compromised threshold pan will show it on the floor inside.
Storm wind pushes hard on the large flat surface of a patio slider and drives the panel against the interlock, which loosens roller adjustment over time and works the panel out of alignment with its latch keeper.
When the soil under a slab swells and shrinks, the wide opening a patio slider sits in is one of the first places the movement shows, and a frame that has racked even a quarter inch will make a brand new set of rollers bind on one end of the travel.
We see the pattern often enough across Etowah County that we usually know what we are looking at before we arrive.
Local factors we account for in Lookout Mountain: storm wind and soil movement — typical of the Appalachian foothills.

- Start with the openingBefore the panel comes out we check the header for deflection and the sill for level, because a door cannot run true in an opening that is not.
- Get the glass out of the way safelyA patio panel is heavy and awkward. We take it out properly so the track and the roller housings can actually be seen.
- Match rollers to the door, not the cataloguePanel weight, housing type and track profile all decide the roller. Fitting whatever is on the van is why doors come back.
- Bring the running surface backA pitted or peened track will destroy new rollers in a season, so it gets dressed, capped or replaced before anything goes back in.
- Set it so the lock works without liftingThe height is right when the latch engages with the door simply pushed closed. Anything you have to lift is still misadjusted. We check for freeze damage as well as wear on foothill openings, since both are common and they need different fixes.
- Test it the way you use itWe run the door dozens of times, check the lock engagement, and make sure it moves with one hand.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of sliding door repair in Lookout Mountain
Pricing on sliding door repair depends on what has actually failed, which is why we talk it through before quoting. These are the things that move the number:
- the size and weight of the panel, since heavy insulated glass units need heavier assemblies
- whether the fix is rollers only or rollers plus track repair
- how much damage the worn track has taken before the call
- the age of the door and whether replacement hardware is still made for it
- how many panels the system has, since three and four panel doors take longer to set
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Lookout Mountain.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Sliding door repair in Lookout Mountain: questions we get asked
Will new rollers fix a door that scrapes loudly?
Only if the track is still in good condition. Once a roller has broken through and the housing has been riding on bare aluminum, the track has a groove worn in it, and new rollers dropped onto that groove will fail quickly. That is when we cap the track.
Why does my sliding door work fine in winter and stick in summer?
That is a moisture and expansion problem, and it is common across Etowah County. Humid months swell wood and vinyl components and expand the frame slightly, which is enough to close up clearance that was already marginal because of worn rollers.
Do you charge to come look at it?
We talk through the symptoms on the phone first, because a lot of sliding door problems can be narrowed down from a good description and a photo of the bottom rail. Call and we will tell you what we think is going on and what it takes to fix.
What does it mean when there is water pooling in the track?
The weep holes that drain the sill are blocked. It is one of the most common causes of water on the floor inside, and it is also one of the easiest things to fix, but if it sits long enough it rusts the roller assemblies out.
How long does a sliding door repair take?
Most single roller-and-track jobs in Lookout Mountain take one to two hours. Multi-panel doors, doors with damaged tracks that need capping, or units that also need glass work take longer, and we tell you which category yours falls into before we start.
Can you fix the lock without fixing the door?
Sometimes, but if the door has settled, a new lock will not line up with the keeper any better than the old one did. We check the panel alignment first, because a lock that will not catch is often a symptom rather than the actual problem.
