Most of our Magnolia Springs calls come from Magnolia Springs Highway and Oak Street, though we work the whole Baldwin County side of it and get out to Daphne regularly.
Door problems in Magnolia Springs tend to sort into two groups: older homes where the frames and jambs have taken decades of weather, and newer builds where the hardware was the cheapest part of the package and has already given up.

These are the screen door repair faults we are called out to most often in Magnolia Springs. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- Mesh sagging and billowingLoose or dried-out spline that is no longer holding the mesh tight.
- The mesh has a shiny worn stripe near the handleAbrasion from contact with the track or jamb, meaning the frame is no longer running true.
- The spline has lifted out of the channel at a cornerShrunken or hardened spline, usually after several summers of UV exposure.
- The screen track itself is damagedThe channel the screen rides in has been bent or worn.
- The screen door falls out of the trackWorn screen rollers or a bent top rail that no longer holds the panel in the head channel.
- Pets have pushed through the bottomA rescreen with pet-resistant mesh and often a pet grille.

Blowing sand gets into everything down here. Tracks, screen channels, thresholds and lock cylinders all collect it, and it acts like sandpaper on moving parts.
Salt corrodes aluminum screen frames and destroys standard fiberglass mesh, and screens on coastal properties need marine-grade or vinyl-coated mesh if they are going to last more than a couple of seasons.
Humidity corrodes the steel components in screen rollers and rusts the tiny springs in adjusters, so screens seize up and drop out of their track.
It is why the same repair done properly in Magnolia Springs lasts, and the same repair done cheaply does not.
Local factors we account for in Magnolia Springs: salt air and sustained humidity — typical of the Alabama Gulf Coast.

- Check it against the openingWe run the frame through its travel and watch where it tightens, which shows whether the fault is the frame or what it runs in.
- Check the frame for squareA racked frame will never slide properly. Corner keys get reset before anything else is considered.
- Choose mesh for the jobStandard, pet-resistant, solar or fine insect mesh. The right one depends on the door, the exposure and what tore the last one. We check the drainage path on every coastal opening, because wind-driven rain gets in where ordinary rain never would.
- Rescreen with correct tensionToo tight and the frame bows, too loose and it billows. Even tension is what keeps a screen flat and quiet.
- Fit and adjust the rollersSet so the panel rides smoothly and stays captured in the head channel.
- Test the full travelThe door should move with one finger, latch cleanly and stay in the track.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of screen door repair in Magnolia Springs
There is no single price for screen door repair in Magnolia Springs, because two doors with identical symptoms can need very different work. Here is what makes the difference:
- custom-built replacement panels where the original is not repairable
- rescreening versus repairing or replacing the frame
- the mesh type chosen, from standard fiberglass to pet-resistant and solar
- roller and track work in addition to the screen itself
- the size of the panel
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Magnolia Springs.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Screen door repair in Magnolia Springs: questions we get asked
My storm door blew open and broke. Can it be repaired?
Usually yes: the closer and its mounting take the damage. We repair the mounting and fit a wind chain so the next gust does not do the same thing.
The screen slides hard even though it is not falling out. What is wrong?
Either the rollers have seized or the track is packed with debris. In Magnolia Springs the track collects a surprising amount of grit, and it acts like grinding paste on the rollers.
Is it worth rescreening or should I just buy a new screen door?
Rescreening is far cheaper and the frame is usually fine. New panels only make sense when the frame is bent beyond straightening or the corners are gone.
My screen mesh has gone brittle and crumbles. What happened?
UV exposure. Screens on the south and west sides of a house in Magnolia Springs take a lot of sun, and standard fiberglass mesh eventually degrades. Solar mesh lasts longer and cuts heat at the same time.
Do you make custom-size screens?
Yes. Older openings in Magnolia Springs are rarely a stock size, and building a panel to the actual measured opening is the only way to get one that fits and stays in.
What mesh should I use if I have dogs?
Pet-resistant mesh, which is a heavier vinyl-coated polyester, and often a pet grille across the lower section. Standard fiberglass will not survive a dog that pushes against it.
