Our Magnolia Springs customers are spread from Magnolia Springs Highway to Oak Street and out around the Magnolia River and its floating mail route, and we serve the surrounding Baldwin County communities on the same schedule.
The mix of housing here matters for door work. Older Magnolia Springs homes have wood frames and hardware worth repairing rather than replacing, while newer construction tends to have vinyl and aluminum systems where the moving parts wear out long before anything else does.

These are the sliding door repair faults we are called out to most often in Magnolia Springs. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- The door will not latch anymoreThe panel has settled out of square, so the hook or mortise latch no longer lines up with the keeper.
- It slides fine one way and binds the otherOne roller of the tandem pair has collapsed, so the panel is running out of level.
- Track full of packed grit that will not vacuum outDebris compacted under the rollers, which accelerates wear on both parts.
- The door stops short of the jamb by half an inchDebris packed at the end of the track, or an adjuster screw wound fully out.
- A loud grinding or scraping noiseMetal-on-metal contact where the roller housing has broken through and is riding on the bare track.
- Water on the floor after heavy rainBlocked weep holes in the sill, so the track fills and backs up over the interior lip.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Why sliding door repair fails in the Alabama Gulf Coast
Salt air is the single biggest factor on the coast. It attacks the steel inside roller bearings, hinge pins, latch mechanisms and closer springs, and it does it year round whether or not a storm ever comes.
Storm wind pushes hard on the large flat surface of a patio slider and drives the panel against the interlock, which loosens roller adjustment over time and works the panel out of alignment with its latch keeper.
Long humid stretches keep condensation on the cold aluminum frame of a slider almost continuously, and that moisture rusts roller axles and adjustment screws from the inside, which is why the screws often shear when someone finally tries to adjust the door.
It is why the same repair done properly in Magnolia Springs lasts, and the same repair done cheaply does not.
Local factors we account for in Magnolia Springs: storm wind and sustained humidity — typical of the Alabama Gulf Coast.

- Look at the whole opening, not just the doorWe check the panel, the track, the head channel and the frame for square before touching a screwdriver, because a door that is fighting the frame will eat a new set of rollers in a year.
- Get the glass out of the way safelyA patio panel is heavy and awkward. We take it out properly so the track and the roller housings can actually be seen.
- Match the hardwareSliding door rollers are not universal. We identify the manufacturer and panel weight and fit the right tandem assembly rather than the closest thing on the truck.
- Restore the running surfaceWorn track gets repaired or capped so the new rollers are not immediately damaged by the old groove. On the coast we also check every fastener on the opening, because salt finds plated screws long before it touches the door itself.
- Set and adjustThe panel goes back in, gets plumbed, and the roller height is set so the door latches and seals along its whole edge.
- Check the weep holes before we goA door that slides beautifully but drains badly will still put water on your floor, so the drainage gets cleared and tested.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of sliding door repair in Magnolia Springs
What a sliding door repair job costs comes down to a handful of things, and we would rather be straight about them up front:
- whether the fix is rollers only or rollers plus track repair
- whether the frame has moved and needs shimming or refastening
- how much damage the worn track has taken before the call
- the age of the door and whether replacement hardware is still made for it
- how many panels the system has, since three and four panel doors take longer to set
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Magnolia Springs.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Sliding door repair in Magnolia Springs: questions we get asked
Do you repair the older aluminum sliding doors?
Yes, and there are a lot of them in Magnolia Springs. Aluminum frames from the sixties through the eighties are actually good candidates for repair because the frame material has not degraded; it is the rollers, the track surface and the weatherstrip that have worn out.
Why does my sliding door work fine in winter and stick in summer?
That is a moisture and expansion problem, and it is common across Baldwin County. Humid months swell wood and vinyl components and expand the frame slightly, which is enough to close up clearance that was already marginal because of worn rollers.
Can you fix the lock without fixing the door?
Sometimes, but if the door has settled, a new lock will not line up with the keeper any better than the old one did. We check the panel alignment first, because a lock that will not catch is often a symptom rather than the actual problem.
Do you charge to come look at it?
We talk through the symptoms on the phone first, because a lot of sliding door problems can be narrowed down from a good description and a photo of the bottom rail. Call and we will tell you what we think is going on and what it takes to fix.
Is there anything I can do to make my sliding door last longer?
Vacuum the track rather than sweeping it, keep silicone rather than oil-based lubricant on the running surface, and check that the weep holes at the bottom of the sill are open. Oil-based products in Magnolia Springs collect dust and grit and turn into grinding paste.
Do you replace the glass in sliding doors too?
Yes. Fogged units where the insulated seal has failed, cracked panes and full tempered glass replacement are all part of what we do, and we can usually keep the existing frame.
Not sure whether it is a repair or a replacement?Describe the symptoms and we will give you a straight answer.
